Rented is operated by ZYON FOUNDATION, a Delaware corporation ("Company", "we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Rented platform.

2. Our Commitment

We believe your data belongs to you. Our policy is simple and strict:

We will NEVER sell your personal data to third parties — not now, not ever.
We will NEVER share your data with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.
Your data is used exclusively to operate the Rented platform and to communicate with you about our own services.

3. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

Account information: Name, email, password.
Profile information: Bio, profile photo, location (if provided).
Listing information: Item descriptions, photos, pricing, sizing.
Transaction information: Rental requests, booking history, payment details (processed by Stripe — we never see your full card number).
Communications: Messages between Members and correspondence with support.
Condition reports: Photos and descriptions for rental check-ins and check-outs.

Information collected automatically:

Device type, browser, and operating system.
IP address and approximate location.
Pages visited, time spent, and interaction patterns.
Essential cookies (see Section 8).

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for the following purposes:

Platform operation: create and manage your account, process transactions, facilitate rentals.
Communication: booking confirmations, condition report reminders, platform notifications.
Safety & trust: verify identities, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms.
Internal marketing: tell you about new Rented features. Opt out anytime.
Improvement: analyse usage in aggregate to improve the platform.

We do NOT use your information for targeted advertising, profiling for third parties, or any purpose beyond operating and improving Rented.

5. Who We Share Data With

We share your information only with:

Other Members: Public profile, listings, reviews. Email is never shared.
Stripe: Our PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor.
Law enforcement: Only with valid legal process.

That's it. No data brokers. No ad networks. No "trusted partners."

6. Data Security

Passwords hashed with bcrypt — we cannot read your password.
All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
Payment data handled entirely by Stripe.
Regular security reviews; need-to-know access only.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., transaction history for tax purposes).

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and ensure the platform functions correctly. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold.
Correction: Update inaccurate information.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data.
Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing anytime.

Rented is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors and will delete any such accounts immediately upon discovery.
